About the Book
It doesn’t take long to familiarize the places around us. The predictability and certainty of the mundane creates a sense of security that we can easily trust. The truth of our world is that it is filled with phenomena and occurrences that break us from calculable life experiences. These occurrences, which can transpire daily, or nightly, are not observed or embraced by the majority for it unearths a feeling of eerie apprehension.
This series of work is focused on capturing these occurrences and the transformative landscape of the evening. The places, which are ordinary and familiar to thousands of people in the Worcester County area, become potential settings for unforeseen desolation. The artificial light we use to challenge the night’s ambiguity creates convoluted emotions within us, which forces us to discern the places that are safe and the places that are dangersome. By questioning the assurance we once had, the eventide has successfully transcended our prosaic expectations of the commonplace.
