Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails; that’s what little boys are made of. The opening line of this well-known nursery rhyme pretty much sums up my childhood. As a small boy I loved playing in the woods, creeks, and ponds that surrounded our home and I was fascinated with the creatures that lived there. Surely, it was my parents’ reluctant acceptance of their son’s curiosity that fostered my life-long love of nature and all God’s creatures.

Come with me on a journey through time and see how photography helped me rediscover my love and fascination of nature in a way nothing else could. There are no grand vistas or exotic landscapes here only the simple things, those small miracles that happen around us every day. Things we are sadly often far too busy to notice or enjoy.

The images and stories that now live on in the pages of my book were once e-mail messages I had sent to family and friends over a period of several years. Indeed, it was my way of sharing the beauty and wonder of life on this planet – at least until now.
