About the Book
Despite years of economic hardship, Romania is fast becoming one of eastern Europe's great final frontiers. Its wealth of National Geographic-quality landscapes - from the rolling hills of Transylvania to the tiny villages of Maramures - makes it a must-see for those in search of unspoiled natural beauty. Equally dazzling are its majestic castles, medieval towns, and its centuries-old churches and monasteries.
Romania: A Visual Journey provides a glimpse of some of the country's amazing sights, both natural and man-made. It aims to give you a taste of long-gone medieval times, as well as proof that it has indeed entered the 21st century, with all that that brings. It hopes to inspire you to visit this vibrant and diverse country before the pressures of modernization and technology begin to chip away at its essence and tourist appeal.

Howe Sim Photography
Acton, Ontario, Canada
Howe Sim is a prolific travel photographer whose work has taken him to every continent, all 193 UN member nations, and a total of 264/330 TCC countries & territories (Platinum Status). His subjects are as eclectic as his destinations: from Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas, to Greenland’s monolithic icebergs, to the bizarre rituals of Benin’s annual voodoo festival. He has endured temperatures from -45 C to +45 C, traversed active conflict zones, evaded a kidnapping attempt, and even been detained by the authorities on suspicion of covert activities. Despite these experiences, this travel addict remains dedicated to capturing the beauty of the world around us. The more otherworldly his subject matter, the greater his wanderlust.
