    About the Book

    Edit

This collection of photographs was taken in 2004 during a trip from the Himalayan city of Kathmandu in Nepal to the bustling city of Delhi in Northern India. The photos are a chronological account of that journey as we travelled from Kathmandu, via a flight along the Himalayas to view Everest, and then southward into the more temperate Chitwan National Park where we got to meet elephants big and small before crossing the border into India. We then experienced the multi-faith diversity of India's ever increasing population including the birthplace of Buddhism, the sacred waters of the Ganges and Hindu's holiest city, Varanasi. Travelling westwards we experienced abandoned Mogul cities, the majestic Taj Mahal, arguably the most beautiful building in the world, imposing hilltop forts and lavish palaces. Exploring cities such as Agra, Jaipur and Delhi, the influence of the British Empire and the importance of the trading routes out of India became ever more apparent. I have deliberately kept the text in the book to a minimum as I hope the photos will speak for themselves and inspire you to visit these wonderful countries for yourself.
