About the Book
The idea for artist as proxy came from a discussion I had with Terri Miller Hopkins, longtime director of the Art Gym at Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon. This book documents an ongoing event score that I performed at FLUXFEST Chicago 2016, May 26 - 29. The events took place at the Joan Flasch Artistbook Library (SAIC), the Chicago Cultural Center, the Block Museum of Art (Northwestern University), and 6018 North, a venue for experimental arts and culture. To perform the score I took selfies when various event scores were being performed, my badge indicating that I was in fact serving as proxy for TMH.

Reid Wood is an artist and educator, who holds BA and MA degrees in Studio Art from Oberlin College, with additional study at the University of Akron, Kent State University, and the Visual Studies Workshop. He works in a variety of media including drawing, printmaking, digital imaging, mixed media collage, artist’s books, mail art (since 1981, using the name State of Being), and performance art. His work has been exhibited in more than 80 venues regionally, nationally and internationally in including the Cleveland Museum of Art (May Show), SPACES Gallery (Cleveland), Zygote Press (Cleveland), Ginko Gallery (Oberlin), The Sculpture Center (NYC), Columbia College (Chicago), the Academia d’Arte di Pisa (Italy), Croxhapox, Gent (Belgium), and the Emily Harvey Foundation Gallery (NYC)
