    About the Book

    Edit

Now That I’m Here is a touching portrait of a young girl’s struggle with disease and disability, and the life she imagines having once she’s free from her illness. Sensitive and uplifting, the book provides families and educators with an entry point into helping children understand disease—and that sometimes an end to suffering is a happy ending. All profits from the sale of Now That I’m Here go to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for research into mitochondrial disease, in honour of Kate Drury.

    Wonderpress
    Wonderpress
    Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Wonderpress is an Ottawa-based publishing shingle. Owner Amanda Sage launched it in 2008 to begin releasing her first three children’s books—Dinostory, Astrorocket and Zootopia—each inspired by her three nephews. Since then, Wonderpress has expanded into online publishing with the website www.KickassCanadians.ca. Through that initiative, the shingle released the 2013 limited edition photobook WIDE OPEN: A Canadian Perspective, with all proceeds going to CARE Canada. Wonderpress released its fourth children’s book, Now That I’m Here, in 2016, as a tribute to Kate Drury, a young Ottawa girl who passed away from mitochondrial disease. In her honour, all profits from Now That I’m Here go to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. All Wonderpress children's books are available in English and French.
