About the Book
This project explores the concept of social norms.
Social norms can be defined as ’Common standards within a social group regarding socially acceptable or appropriate behaviour in
particular social situations, the breach of which has social consequences.’
(Oxford Dictionary) In the form of on site photographic portraits and a questionnaire, I have been exploring how the public would react in given situations to reveal their ideas of social norms. Over a five week period I went to Bristol city Centre, Cheltenham and SGS College with the questionnaire, and asked the public to respond and hand write their answers to the given situations. This book presents a varied selection of the people I asked, these contain mixed ages, genders and responses.
