About the Book
A summary of a year-long digital performance-based research project exploring the construction of femininity and mental illness online. Examining the process of weave according to historical literature on hysteria and craft, this book explores the use of the body as a medium itself within the creation of textiles. Combining photography, sculpture, collage and performance, the narrative of the book spans 10 months of engagement with, and critique of the performative and self-reflective nature of both the hysteria diagnosis, and our increasing use of social media in the construction of our identities.
