"Straight Gospel" is a collection of poems related to self-love, self-worth, and self-discovery while simultaneously touching upon more difficult issues like colorism, depression, abuse, and heartbreak. Pearson pulls from her own personal challenges and experiences as a black woman who is daily striving towards better understanding and loving herself and others.
