    About the Book

    Edit

Few photographers would consider northeastern Kansas a creative destination. Kansas Idyll challenges that preconception. Each of these photographs is strongly matter-of-fact but also graphically complex, rich in detail, emotionally evocative and multi-layered. Photographs like these happen when a photographer enters a new place and responds to it through aesthetic and emotional resonance. Photographs are more than what they depict, they are objects in their own right.

Kansas Idyll is the result of a photographic trip to
    Kansas in late October, 2016.

    Lincroft, New Jersy 07738 USA

A retired Psychology Professor at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, NJ, after 41 years. My specialties are Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, and Positive Psychology. I am also an avid photographer since 1977 and a member of the photographic cooperative, Soho Photo Gallery in New York City. In 1984 I took a mid-career fellowship at Princeton University for up-and-coming community college faculty. There I studied the history of photography with photographic scholar Peter Bunnell. From that my style and methods of engagement with photography became research-based critical analysis and then formulated into PhotoPsychology and Reading Pictures – The Psychology of Photography. Psychology and photography are fully integrated in this new specialty and I value continuing opportunities to teach about this new and system for connecting with photographs (see www.photopsychology.com for more).
