After high school I studied biology at the University of Amsterdam and studied a group of cicadas from Southeast Asia for my thesis. Later on I studied and graduated in photographic design at the KABK, The Hague. I worked for several magazines and advertising agencies, and at the same time started teaching photography at the Fotoacademie, the Netherlands.
