    About the Book

    Edit

A young boy and his mother begin a journey with black-and-white film photography in the mid-1950's. After an unspeakable tragedy, the boy and his camera go their separate ways for 40 years. Then lightning strikes and everything changes. SECOND LOOK is a book that shows what can happen with a second chance.

The black-and-white photographs that make up SECOND LOOK are filled with emotion -- whether it is joy, sadness, boredom, confusion, contemplation, despair, hurt, fatigue, or anticipation. These emotions bind us together as humans regardless of our race or ethnicity.

In this book, the photographs have been carefully paired on opposing pages with a purpose -- to motivate the viewer to discover why the two photographs belong together. Hopefully, there is something about the paired photographs that will make you want to take a second look.

Henri Cartier-Bresson emphasized that the difference between an average photograph and a great photograph is a matter of millimeters. There is a fine line between the truly mundane moment and an ordinary moment that captures your imagination. Such are the ordinary moments assembled as part of SECOND LOOK.
