About the Book
Matière Numérique is a journey to the center of the pixel: from a black singleton pixel we dive into data compression and transformation routines' generated artifacts.
Recursively zooming from one image to another, deeper into the details of that original dot, through re-photographing the image over and over again, we progressively dilute the original to nothingness, and only let the resulting digital matter persist.
How sensuality and matter generates itself through the digital medium. How the photographer's point of view and narration make this improbable fractal-like travel possible.
This is the story from the original pixel to the first neo-generated one.

About the Creator
Tristan Zand is a California born experimental photographer / multimedia artist / programmer. His work focuses on investigating the photographic image and what makes it resonate with our deeper sense of reality. The photograph as one's proof of existence, of one's non-singularity? His work states how even the most abstract photographic mishap can feel a friend or a foe, as a proof of existence beyond the visual illusion. His works include 'the bootymachine', 'dreams of a silicon future' , 'matchomaton', 'dualphotography', and many more.
