      About the Book

      Edit

in 1974, photographer Roger Minick began a three-year project photographing Southern California, a marked departure from his previous photography which had focused mostly on the American rural landscape. As Minick herein writes, “The contrast between driving and stopping along bucolic country roads to make photographs and now finding myself navigating a surreal landscape of urban sprawl looking for photographs could not have been more stark. No longer photographing from feelings of nostalgia, I was now photographing a place with which I had often had a love-hate relationship.”
