I wrote most of these poems whilst sat in Sainsburys Cafe, Ings Road, Wakefield drinking too much coffee, eating too many toasted tea cakes and chatting with far too many people to mention. Inspiration arose from those I met, the papers and books I read and media news reoprts I heard on TV and radio and memories of my childhood.

Subject matters addressed in the poems and jokes include, a sea-faring adventurer, environmental pollution, an Alien bowler landing in Barnsley, menacing youths, a very keen birder, Sainsbury's Cafe, a neighbours wash day, memory loss, Alzheimer's, wanting to win at sports, a footballing hero, and a crooning cat. Sky Sports News also get a mention.
