Kaz has a BA in Journalism from Kansai University in Osaka, and continued his studies in Photojournalism at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario. After graduation, he worked for the Toronto Star as a summer intern, and began Sakana Photography with Rhiana in 2004. Since then, his work has been featured at the International Alzheimer’s Conference held in Kyoto, and in countless publications. Most recently, he was the winner of the 2006 Natori Younosuke Award, presented by the Japanese Photographers’ Association to Japan’s most promising photojournalist under the age of 30, and was just awarded a Silver Medal in the Canadian Magazine Awards.
